Stepping Up for Crosswalk
Scott Kisting, Jim Claffee and other executive team members served lunch at the Crosswalk Shelter in Spokane a few weeks ago. The crew brought Olive Garden lasagna, salad and bread sticks to serve the teens who were at the shelter that day.
Additionally, members of the Bank's Loan Operations and Mortgage teams put on their "elf" hats to ensure the teens received holiday gifts. With $1,000 provided by the Bank the employees used their bargain hunting skills to purchase 100 gift items including hats, jackets, cold-weather gear and other gifts. The items were then wrapped and delivered to the shelter.
Founded in 1985, Crosswalk is an emergency shelter, a school drop-out prevention program, and a group of lifesaving and life-changing programs dedicated specifically to breaking the cycle of youth homelessness. In an average year, Crosswalk serves more than 1,000 youth ages 13-17. Emergency shelter is available 365 days a year and all services are free and voluntary.
Other notable contributions last month included: $5,000 to the Spokesman-Review Christmas Fund, $10,000 to Prosser's Historic Downtown Association, $2,000 to the Utah Food Bank, $1,300 to the Spokane House of Charity, $1,250 to Spokane Valley Meals on Wheels, $1,025 to Northwest Harvest in Yakima, $2,600 to Spokane Mid-City Concerns; $2,500 to 4th Street Clinic Salt Lake City, $1,000 to Spokane Union Gospel Mission, and $1,000 to Olive Crest of Washington.
